I just brought home my 2001 V-Star 650 Custom! This black and chrome beauty is the second bike I own, the first being a 1999 Honda Helix 250 scooter, which I will still keep. Who can sell her first bike? I chose the V-Star 650 Custom because of the low seat height and comfortable riding position. I'm a 5'5" 130 lb. female so a huge bike just wouldn't work for me. I also contemplated the Kawasaki Vulcan 500 but after sitting on the V-Star 650 and riding my husband's Vulcan 800, there was no comparison as to the comfort. Shaft drive also makes this baby soooo smoooooth! Customization highlights so far include Cobra straight pipes with the baffles removed (Awesome sounding!). I have also removed the cheesy-looking strap over the buddy seat, the buddy pegs (I ride solo, baby.), helmet lock (and I do wear one) and all the Yamaha decals including the nasty decal on the tank. It now has a nice, clean look. And of course I have my bell mounted in the perfect spot on the frame. I am adding the low windshield and engine guards as soon as they come in and am still deciding on what Celtic design to paint on the front and rear fenders if I paint them at all. E-mail me and I'll give you directions on how to remove the decals. It's not hard. Does anyone out there in cyberspace know where I might find chrome foot-peg mounts? It would complete the look I'm after. Ride on sisters and brothers!
